LATEST NEWS

  • 8U Long Jump (boys and girls) has been moved from Saturday to Sunday
  • Hammer Throw - the Hammer Throw will be contested on June 20 at Potts Field, University of Colorado in Boulder. Due to severe damage to the Hammer Cage at the facility the Hammer Throw will NOT be contested as part of the Colorado Junior Olympic Championships. All athletes entered will be advanced to the national championships.
  • Combined Events - the Combined Events (Triathlon, Pentathlon, Heptathlon, Decathlon) will not be contested at the Colorado Association Championships. Athletes wishing to compete in those events at the Region 10 championships should register for the Colorado Championships via the link above (or below under Entry Information header)
  • Pole Vault - the order for the Pole Vault will be as follows; Girls first (youngest to oldest) followed by Boys (youngest to oldest). Each age division will be contested separately.  MORE Pole Vault details can be found below.
  • Volunteers Needed - For the meet to run smoothly for the athletes we are in need of several dozen voluteers.  Please consider volunteering. Click here to learn more or to register to volunteer.

ELIGIBILITY

USATF Membership
This meet is open to 2024 USATF Colorado member athletes who fall within the age divisions listed above.  Memberships can be obtained online here

Citizenship 
Only U.S. citizens, aliens living in the United States and foreign exchange students are eligible to compete in these Championships.  See the USATF Rules for more information and exceptions. 

Age Division
A competitor must compete in his/her age division only.  Age divisions are determined by year of birth (see above) and NOT age on event day. There will be no "moving up" in any events, including relays.

Date of Birth Verification 
Each athlete's date or birth must be verified and included as part of their USATF member profile before the athlete's entry can be submitted. If the athlete's date of birth has been verified in the past and their membership was renewed, then they will be able to submit their entry. Proof of Birth (copy of birth certificate, passport, certified baptismal record, driver’s license or U.S. government identification) needs to be uploaded to the athlete's USATF CONNECT profile.  See USATF Competition Rules, Rule 300.1 (i) for further information.

Relay Teams: Only registered 2024 USATF member clubs may enter a relay team(s).  All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with and members of that club as part of their USATF membership. 

Notes about club membership -

  • for a club to be active it must have renewed its club membership for 2024. 
  • All coaches linked to the team’s profile must have a) a current USATF membership, b) a current USATF background check, and c) completed the US Center For SafeSport training and be current with all refresher classes.

POLE VAULT INFORMATION

The Colorado Association Junior Olympic Championships will have 6 pole vault competitions.  Each age group/gender will be contested separately, on a rolling schedule, starting with Girls 13-14 at 830am (warm-ups start at approximately 745am).  Each competition will have their own warm-up period based on the number of entries.

The warm-ups for the second competition will begin upon completion of the first competition and so on.  The order of the competitions and the starting heights with 15 cm increments are as follows:
   G 13-14 starting height 1.75m (5' 8 3/4")
   G 15-16 starting height 1.85m (6' 3/4")
   G 17-18 starting height 2.28m (7' 5 3/4")
   B 13-14 starting height 2.10m (6' 10 3/4")
   B 15-16 starting height 3.15m (10' 4")
   B 17-18 starting height 3.50m (11' 5 3/4")

All athletes will be weighed, including their shoes.  Poles will be measured and inspected for the manufacturers weight rating that is a minimum of ¾ inches, either on or above the top hand hold position as determined by the manufacturer.  Weight labels must be readable.  An altered (cut) pole renders the pole illegal. Taping must be uniform.

PROTESTS

There will be a $25 protest fee.

ADVANCEMENT - REGION 10 & NATIONAL CHAMPIONHIPS

The Region 10 Championships will be held in Aurora, CO on July 11-14.  The top four (4) finishers in each event at the Colorado championships will qualify for the Region 10 championships. 

The 2024 USATF National Junior Olympics will be held in College Station, TX (July 22-28). The national championship meet information can be found here.
