Boulder Road Runners Earn Three Podium Team Finishes at Club Championships in Florida

USATF Colorado masters athletes delivered outstanding performances at the recent USATF National Club Cross Country Championships, led by a dominant showing from Boulder Road Runners, who earned three team podium finishes. The championships were held on Sunday (11-Jan) in Tallahassee, FL in conjuction with the world cross country championships held the day before.

The highlight of the day came in the men’s 80+ division, where Boulder Road Runners captured the national team title with just 10 points. Their scorers were Jeffrey Dumas (2nd 80-84), William Repphun (3rd 80-84), and Jan Frisby (9th 80-84) as they defeated the Shore AC (New Jersey) by 9 points.

In the men's 70+ team competion the Boulder Road Runners finished second as they scored 24 points, trailing the 13 points scored by the Shore AC (New Jersey). The team scorers were Jack Pottle (3rd 70-74), Gary Ostwald (1st 75-79), and Doug Bell (2nd 75-79). In the individual 75-79 division, Ostwald won the individual title by just seconds over Bell.

The podium trifecta was completed with a third-place team finish in the men’s 50+ division, where Boulder Road Runners totaled 107 points. Standout performances included top-ten finishes from Flavio De Simone (7th) and Frank Zoldak (8th) in the Men 55–59 division, along with solid scoring contributions from Kevin Konczak (15th 55-59), Michael Mallon (16th 55-59), and Brian Schmidt (22nd 55-59).

Other notable Colorado performances included a runner-up finish from Daniel King of Athletics Boulder in the Men 65–69 division, and multiple strong results from the Fort Collins Running Club, led by Juan Morales (15th 45-49), Chris McCullough (31st 45-49, Joshua Fay (33rd 45-49), Florian Hild (34th 50-54), and Mark Saunders (35th 45-49).
