Tuttle Highlights Dominate Showing by Coloradans at Trail Championships in Utah

Results

A field of 78 athletes from across the country took on the rugged desert terrain at the USATF Half Marathon Trail Championships on Saturday (8-Nov), and Colorado runners delivered standout performances from start to finish. In total, 33 Colorado athletes competed in Moab, with many finishing among the top ranks and earning national age-division honors.

Tuttle & Wacker Lead Coloradans to Dominating Top-10 Showings

Tayler Tuttle (Longmont) led the charge for the Centennial State, capturing the women’s national title and rewriting the record books with a 1:32:24 finish—more than two minutes faster than the previous course record, held by four-time USATF Colorado MUT Athlete of the Year Allie McLaughlin. Tuttle’s dominant run set the tone for a deep showing by Colorado athletes as four others would join her in the top-10. She was joined in the top 10 by Alicia Vargo of Breckenridge, who finished 3rd overall and won the masters 40–44 title; Rena Schwartz of Boulder (4th); Courtney Ackerman of Boulder (7th); and Lily Berwanger of Boulder (9th) — a dominant display that underscored Colorado’s depth in the women’s field.

Colorado dominated the men’s championship, claiming seven of the top ten overall places. Leading the charge was Andy Wacker of Boulder, who finished 2nd overall in 1:20:28. He was followed closely by a strong pack of Coloradans, including Camren Todd (Kaysville, UT, 3rd), Grant Colligan of Golden (4th), Ares Reading of Boulder (6th), Joshua Eberly of Gunnison (7th), Evan Kwiecien of Durango (9th), and Jackson Gilmore of Gunnison (10th and 1st U20) — a powerhouse display that underscored Colorado’s depth on the national trail stage. The race was won by Utah's Christian Allen in 1:18:09 a new course record on the historic course.
