Colorado athletes turned in a strong showing at the 2026 USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships, held July 23-26 at Icahn Stadium in New York City. The championships marked the 150th edition of the event and its first return to New York City since 1991, with Colorado competitors earning one national title, two runner-up finishes, and numerous top-eight performances against the nation's best.
Leading the way was Texas Tanner, who captured the men's discus throw national championship with a winning mark of 65.46m. Representing the U.S. Air Force, Tanner added another top performance by placing sixth in the hammer throw with a throw of 71.64m, giving him a pair of All-America finishes during the championship weekend.
Colorado athletes also recorded two runner-up finishes. Gabrielle Jennings (adidas) earned silver in the women's 3,000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 9:17.42, while Scottie Vines (Arkansas) cleared 2.26m to finish second in the men's high jump.
Several additional Colorado athletes earned top-eight finishes. Acer Iverson placed fifth in the men's 10,000m (30:25.82) and eighth in the 5,000m (13:53.26), while Abigail Glynn finished fifth in the women's 400m hurdles in 55.59. Lydia McGranahan placed fifth in the women's half marathon race walk (1:52:21.80), and Gracie Hyde finished sixth in the women's 3,000m steeplechase (9:22.10).
Veteran Olympian Emma Coburn added another national top-10 finish by placing seventh in the women's 3,000m steeplechase (9:29.68). Additional top-eight performances came from Giavonna Meeks, who finished eighth in the women's hammer throw (66.38m), Ariana Ince, who placed eighth in the women's javelin throw (49.43m), and Michael Bennett, who earned eighth in the decathlon with 7,309 points.
Other notable Colorado performances included ninth-place finishes by Savannah Shaw in the women's 10,000m, Yasin Sado in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, Daniel Reynolds in the men's hammer throw, and Drew Thompson in the decathlon. Ava Mitchell also earned a top-10 finish, placing 10th in the women's 5,000m.
