Ostwald Breaks American Masters 5 km Record

On Sunday (12-April) Gary Ostwald, 80, of Denver delivered a historic performance, breaking the American Masters 80-84 5 km record with a time of 21:22 at the Carlsbad 5000 in Carlsbad, Calf. Ostwald, who turned 80 in January, competes for the Boulder Road Runners.

Ostwald’s mark surpasses the previous record of 21:59, set in 2001 by legendary masters runner Warren Utes.
