Results USATF Colorado athletes delivered standout performances at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, highlighted by Yared Nuguse’s silver medal in the men’s mile and Andrew Hunter’s American record in the men’s 5 km.
Eight Colorado athletes competed across the three championship distances - 1 mile, 5 km, and half marathon.
Yared Nuguse (Boulder) produced Colorado’s top finish of the championships, racing to the silver medal in the men’s mile.
Nuguse stopped the clock in 3:52.4, finishing second behind his On Athletics Club teammate Robert Farken of Germany, who captured the world title in 3:51.8.
Gracie Hyde (Alamosa) represented Team USA in the women’s mile, finishing 11th in 4:32.0.
In the women’s 5 km, Allie Ostrander (Boulder) placed 12th, covering the road course in 15:10, a personal best by seven seconds.
Andrew Hunter (Longmont) delivered one of Team USA's top performances, finishing 11th in 13:14 and setting a new American record for the road 5 km.
Hunter took three seconds off the previous American record of 13:17, set by Abdihamid Nur just two weeks earlier.
Dylan Jacobs (Overland Park, Illinois) finished 17th in 13:24, just ten seconds behind Hunter.
Hillary Bor (Colorado Springs) finished 24th in the men's half marathon, clocking 1:01:12.
Two Colorado athletes competed in the women’s half marathon, led by Ednah Kurgat (Colorado Springs), who finished 17th running a new personal best of 1:08:11.
