Witt Wins at National Youth Championships in Kentucky

The
2023 USATF Youth Indoor Championships
concluded on Sunday (19-March). The championships were held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky A total of 957 athletes competed in 2353 events during the three day competition that began on Friday (17-March).
Seventeen athletes from Colorado competed in a total of 30 events.
Two-time Colorado athlete of the year
Zenobia Witt
(Alpha & Omega Athletics) won two events and earned bronze medals in two other events. Competing in the girls 13-14 division, Witt won the Long Jump and Triple Jump. In the Long Jump her winning mark of 5.45m (17-10¾) was just 2¾ inches shy of her personal best. In the Triple Jump her winning mark was 10.74m (35-03). Her bronze medals were earned in the 55m and 200m. In the 55m she stopped the clock at 7.48 a new personal best and in the 200m her time was 26.38.
Lilly Nichols
(unattached) finished second in the 17-18 girls Pole Vault with a clearance of 3.40m (11-01¾).
Major Knight
(unattached) won a bronze medal for his third place finish in the 9-10 boys High Jump, clearing 1.00m (3-03¼). He also earned a trip to the finals of the 55m where he finished sixth running a personal best 8.26. In the 200m he finished 12th running 31.16.
Alpha & Omega Athletics teammates
Balthazar Saint Tillman
and
John Singleton Jr.
both had busy weekends. Competing in the 11-12 boys division, Saint Tillman finished fourth in both the 55m (7.71) and Long Jump (4.36m/14-03¾). Both were personal best marks. Singleton finished fourth in the 15-16 boys 55m running 6.93 and was sixth in the Long Jump (5.29m/17-04¼) and eighth in the 200m (24.11).
