Nuguse Shatters American 1 Mile Record at Prefontaine Classic

On Sunday (17-Sept) Yared Nuguse, 24, of Bouder set a new American record in the 1 mile as he finished second in the Bowerman Mile at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, OR. His time of 3:43.97 broke the exisiting record of 3:46.91 set in 2007 by Alan Webb; and is the #4 time ever. The race was won by Olympic gold medalist Jakob Ingebrigsten of Norway in a time of 3:43.73 (#3 all-time). 

Early this year Nuguse broke the American indoor 1 mile (3:47.38) and 3000m (7:28.24) records.
