Sayre leads Boulder Road Runners to national title in New York
Roger Sayre finished 2nd in the M60 division at the 2022 USATF Masters Half Marathon Championships

On Sunday (20-March) three (3) athletes from Colorado competed in the USATF Masters Half Marathon Championships in Syracuse, NY. All three athletes represented the Boulder Road Runners. The championship, hosted by the Syracuse Half Marathon, was the fourth race in the 2022 USATF National Masters Grand Prix.
Roger Sayre
, 64, of Golden finished second in the 60-64 division to lead his Boulder Road Runners team to a national title in the M60+ division. Sayre's time of 1:21:46 scored 90.66% on the age grading tables which was the second best score of the 124 men that competed. Only Nat Larson of Massachusetts was able to score higher than Sayre as he turned in a 92.24% score. Scores of 90% and over are considered world class performances.
Adam Feerst
, 62, of Denver and
Michael Fronsoe
of Monroe, LA finished fourth and sixth, respectively in the men's 60-64 division to round out the team's scoring. Feerst crossed the line in 1:26:28 and Fronsoe stopped the clock at 1:29:40.
The team's cumulative team time of 4:17:54 (1:25:58 average per runner) was over 6 minutes faster than the Shore Athletic Club.
This is the fourth straight top-three team finish for the team in the 2022 USATF Grand Prix. They lead their division with 360 points with Shore AC in second with 230 points. Boulder Athletics is in fourth place with 190 points.
Sayre is in fourth place in the individual Grand Prix with 185 points. Dan King (200 points) of Boulder and Tim DeGrado (190 points) of Arvada are in second and third place respectively, just ahead of Sayre.
