Gray three-peats at national trail championships in Wisconsin

The
2021 USATF Half Marathon Trail Running Championships
were held on Saturday (25-Sept) in Hayward, Wisconsin in conjunction with the Birkie Trail Running Festival.
Four (4) USATF Colorado members competed in the championships with all four earning top-six finishes.
For the third consequetive year,
Joseph Gray
, 37, of Colorado Springs won the men's race running 1:14:50. This was Gray's second USATF title in six weeks and 20th career title. On August 15 he won the USATF Mountain Running Championships in Oregon. Eddie Owens (California), who finished second to Gray in Oregon, finished second running 1:15:11. Boulder's
Andy Wacker
, 33, rounded out the top three running 1:18:17. Finishing sixth was
Travis Lavin
, 33, of Golden in 1:23:40.
In the women's race
Kathryn
Fluehr
, 28, of Boulder finished third running 1:32::51. The race was won by Racheal Johnson of Virginia in 1:28:13 with Stephanie Garcia of Arizona second running 1:30:22.
