Colorado Grand Prix Update: Showdowns Await at Kokopelli Invitational and Wash Park Circuit
Grand Prix Standings
The
2025 USATF Colorado Long Distance Running Grand Prix
reached its critical fourth stop in Boulder with the 5K Cross Country Championship held on October 4, and the season’s fiercest team battles continued to tighten. With only two races remaining, every second and every point now count toward the $10,000 Grand Prix purse and the coveted Colorado Grand Prix titles.
CLUB STANDINGS
At the Colorado Cross Country Championships, the
Fort Collins Running Club
(FCRC) women edged the
Boulder Road Runners
(BRR) by just three points in a nail-biting finish to extend their overall Grand Prix lead. The tables turned in the men’s race, as BRR held off a determined FCRC squad to claim their fourth team Grand Prix victory this year.
With their performances, the FCRC women and BRR men each move to the brink of clinching the Grand Prix titles - a win at either of the season’s final two stops (the Kokopelli Invitational in Colorado Springs on November 8 or the Wash Park Circuit finale in Denver on November 16) will seal the deal.
INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS
In the Men’s Open standings,
Isaiah Remington
(305 points) moved into the overall lead thanks to consistent top finishes across all four events.
Cody Jones
(295 points) and defending 2024 champion
Ryder Searle
(290 points) remain within striking distance, setting up a dramatic finish that will likely be decided at the Wash Park event on November 16.
On the Women’s Open side,
Jessica Cunningham
(270 points) continues to lead, but the pressure is on as
Marie Peterson
(255 points) and
Chloe Colligan
(240 points) are closing the gap, while early-season standout
Danielle Orie
(200 points) - winner of the first two races—could still challenge for the overall title with victories in the final two events.
Masters Division
The Men’s Masters battle has flipped once again.
Anthony Bruns
(385 points) surged to the top of the standings with back-to-back wins at the Fall Equinox Half Marathon and 5 km XC Championships. But the competition is far from over -
Jeffrey Eggleston
(270 points) will enjoy home-course advantage when the series shifts to Colorado Springs for the Kokopelli Invitational.
Meanwhile, Athletics Boulder’s
Kristine Clark
(400 points) remains perfect through four races, continuing her impressive streak atop the Women’s Masters leaderboard.
Shelley McDonald
(355 points) stays within reach after another strong showing at the cross-country championships.
LOOKING AHEAD
With Grand Prix prize money awarded to the top seven finishers in each division, and tight margins separating contenders across every leaderboard, the next two races promise fireworks. Expect club pride, series titles, and season-long bragging rights to be decided over the rolling trails of the Kokopelli XC Invitational (November 8, Colorado Springs) and the fast laps of the Wash Park Circuit (November 16, Denver).
