Andrews Runs Third‑Fastest 5000m in U.S. History in Rome
ROME (June 6) —
Josette Andrews
, 29, of Boulder, delivered a career-defining performance at the prestigious Wanda Diamond League’s Rome Golden Gala, clocking a massive 18-second personal best of 14:25.37 to finish sixth in a historically fast women’s 5000m.
Andrews’ time makes her the third-fastest American woman of all time in the event and ranks #28 on the world all-time list.
The race was won by Ethiopia’s Beatrice Chebet, who stormed to victory in 14:03.69, the second-fastest time in history, in what is being hailed as one of the most competitive 5000m races ever contested.
On the U.S. all-time list, Andrews now trails only her On Athletics Club teammate Alicia Monson (14:19.45, 2023) and Shelby Houlihan (14:23.92, 2020).
