Monson Runs To American Record in London

On Sunday (23-Jul) Alicia Monson, 25, of Longmont set a new American record in the 5000m as she finished fifth in the London Diamond League meeting in Olympic Stadium. Her time of 14:19.45 broke the exisiting record of 14:23.92 set in 2020 by Shelby Houlihan. Monson now also holds the American record in the 10,000m, and 3000m (indoor).

In the men's 1500m, Yared Nuguse, 24, of Boulder won his first Diamond League event running 3:30.44.
