Kurgat Second at USATF 20 km Championships in Connecticut
Results
The
2023 USATF 20 km Championships
were held on September 4 in New Haven, CT. Eight (8) athletes from Colorado competed in the championships.
In the women's race
Ednah Kurgat
of Colorado Springs finished fourth in a time of 1:06:39. The race was won by Emily Sisson, the American record holder in the marathon, in a time of 1:06:09. Kurgat earned 12 points in the year-long USATF Road Running Circuit which she currently leads with 52 points. With two races to go she holds a 12 point lead over fellow Coloradan Nell Rojas.
In the men's race
Leonard Korir
of Colorado Springs finished sixth running 59:45.
Connor Winter
of Boulder and
Benjamin Payne
of Colorado Springs finished 13th and 14th respectively. Korir earned five points in the USATF Road Running Circuit which he currently leads with 63 points. He holds a 19 point lead over Jacob Thomson.
