Bates 5th, Cabada and Bruns top masters at Boston Marathon

The 2023 Boston Marathon took place on Monday (17-April). 

The highlights for the USATF Colorado members included:

• Emma Bates of Boulder finished fifth in the women’s competition running 2:22:10. She was the top American finisher. The time was a career best for Bates by 1:08.
• Nell Rojas, of Boulder, finished 14th  running a career best of 2:24:51.
• Margareta Montoya of Boulder finished 24th in a time of 2:31:19.
• In the masters competition, Fernando Cabada (Aurora) and Anthony Bruns (Denver) finished first and second, respectively. Cabada stopped the clock at 2:23:01 with Burns just 38 seconds back. Cabada was the top USATF Colorado male finisher.
• Craig Person, 59, of Loveland finished 20th in the 55-59 division running 2:57:17.
