Hunter wins 5 km championships in New York; Gidabuday close third

Results
On Saturday (6-Nov) 14 members of USATF Colorado competed in the 2021 USATF 5 km Championships. The championships were held as part of the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K in New York with the finish line in Central Park.
In the men's race four (4) Coloradans finished in the top seven including race winner
Andrew Hunter,
24, (Boulder, adidas) and third-place finisher
Sydney Gidabuday
, 25, (Roots Running Project) of Boulder. Hunter won the race in 13:53 with Matthew Centrowitz (Virginia) and Gidabuday taking the next two spots in the same time. It was Hunter's first career USATF road title. Finishing sixth and seventh were Hunter's Tinman Elite teammates
Brian Barraza
(Boulder) and
Joseph Berriatua
(Boulder); both ran 13:56. Just missing a top ten finish was
Benjamin Eidenschink
, 25, of Longmont who finished 12th in 14:00. He was just .16 seconds behind 10th place finisher Willy Fink of Virginia.
In the women's race 2016 Olympic Triathlon champion
Gwen Jorgensen
, 35, of Boulder finished sixth running 15:50 and
Margareta Montoya
, 26, (Boulder, Roots Running Project) finished tenth in 15:55.
Katie Rainsberger
, 23, of Colorado Springs finished 13th running 16:06 in her USATF road racing debut. The race was won by Weini Kelati of Virginia.
