Frisby wins; Straka second at masters mile championships in Michigan

Last Friday (23-Aug) three athletes from USATF Colorado competed in the USATF Masters 1 Mile Road Championships in Flint, MI. A total of 123 athletes from 23 states competed on the record eligible 1 mile course.
The Colorado highlights were:
  • Jan Frisby, 75, (Grand Junction / Boulder Road Runners) winning the men's 75-79 national title in 6:18 (note: his time is being reviewed and may be adjusted to a new U.S. record of 6:16).
  • Todd Straka, 52, (Boulder / Boulder RISE) finishing second in the men's 50-54 division running 4:56. Straka's age graded score of 88.74% was the 11th best of all the male competitors in Flint.
  • Michael Fronsoe, 61, (Monroe, LA / Boulder Road Runners) placing sixth in the men's 60-64 division in 5:41.
