Seven Long Distance Running Championships announced for 2019


The 2019 USATF Colorado Long Distance Running Championship Series schedule has been finalized.  USATF Colorado is pleased to announce it will hold seven championships in 2019 ranging in distance from 1 mile to the marathon with a total of $14,000 in prize money being offered.  Included on the series are five road races, one trail race, and a cross country event.
The first race in the series will be the half marathon championships on April 14 in Littleton.  The championship is being hosted by the Platte River Half Marathon.  Three weeks later, the marathon championships will be held on May 5 at the Colorado Marathon in Fort Collins.
June will be an off month but the championship schedule picks up again on July 20 with the 10 km championships at the Colorado Springs Classic 10K.
On August 10 (note new date) the 1 mile championships will be held as part of the Pearl Street Mile in Boulder.
The first "off-road" championship will be held on October 5 as the Castle Rock Trail Festival will host the trail championships.  The distance for the event will be 10 km.
The championship series will conclude in November with two championship events.  On November 2 the Colorado cross country championships will be held in conjunction with the Colleen De Reuck XC Classic in Boulder.  Then two weeks later the 5 km championships will be held on November 16 as part of the Pumpkin Pie 5K in December
